What is Articulation?

An articulation agreement is an agreement between a high school instructor and a College Professor. During a series of meetings, the course outlines, course competencies, software, books or digital media, assignments, assessments, projects and final examinations are compared. If the curriculum covered in the high school setting is comparable, an articulation agreement is signed.

High School students must attend the class in two consecutive semesters, pass the final exam and achieve a grade of A or B for either or both semesters to earn this credit by exam. The students must enroll in Palomar College, be assigned a student ID number, and share that Palomar ID number with the high school instructor to receive the 3 units of college credit.

Thereafter, at the completion of the course, the instructor will report the final marks to Rancho Buena Vista High School and Palomar College. College credit is usually added to each students transcript during the summer school session. Students can log onto Palomar College's student services website to check their unofficial transcript to see if the credit has been applied.

The college credit is transferable
! Students earning credit in Digital Arts and Graphic Design can choose to transfer the credit as an Fine Arts credit (UC-F). Students earning credit in Web Publishing and Media design earn elective credit that is also transferable.
